A Ludhiana court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood in connection with an alleged ₹10 lakh fraud case. The warrant was issued after Sood failed to respond to a court summons.
Case Background
The case was filed by Rajesh Khanna, a Ludhiana-based lawyer, who alleges that the main accused, Mohit Shukla, deceived him into investing ₹10 lakh in a fraudulent scheme involving a fake Rijika coin. Sood was summoned to testify in the case but did not appear in court, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.
Court’s Directive
The court has directed the officer-in-charge of Oshiwara Police Station in Andheri West, Mumbai, to arrest Sonu Sood and present him before the court. The police have been instructed to execute the warrant and report back by February 10, 2025.
Sonu Sood’s Legal Challenges
This is not the first time Sonu Sood has faced legal issues. In 2021, the Income Tax Department accused him of financial irregularities amounting to over ₹20 crore, alleging unutilized charitable funds and bogus contracts. Sood responded to these allegations by stating that he did not always feel the need to present his side of the story.
As of now, Sonu Sood has not publicly commented on the latest arrest warrant issued against him.
