Mamta Kulkarni Recalls Shah Rukh Khan-Salman Khan’s Prank During Karan Arjun Shoot, Says They Shut Door on Her Face

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has revealed an incident from the sets of the 1995 blockbuster Karan Arjun, where she starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. In a recent interview with India TV, Mamta claimed that the two actors played a prank on her and later shut the door on her face.

The Incident on Set

Recalling the events, Mamta stated that during the shoot, choreographer Chinni Prakash had called her for a meeting. As she climbed the stairs, Shah Rukh and Salman sniggered as they passed by, but she remained silent.

She further revealed that the choreographer unexpectedly assigned her a complex solo dance step, which she later realized was a prank planned by the two actors.

However, the next morning on set, Mamta delivered a perfect take on her first attempt, while Salman and Shah Rukh struggled with their steps, leading to multiple retakes. The director eventually called for a pack-up after their repeated failed attempts.

“Salman Shut the Door on My Face”

As the cast rushed back to their rooms, Mamta tried to keep up with Shah Rukh and Salman to prevent them from playing another prank on her. However, just as she reached the door, Salman suddenly shut it in her face, leaving her outside.

Mamta Kulkarni’s Bollywood Journey

Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan, was a massive box-office success, further solidifying Salman Khan’s position as a superstar and establishing Shah Rukh Khan as a dominant force in Bollywood. The film also marked a high point in Mamta Kulkarni’s career.

After Karan Arjun, she went on to star in films like Ghatak, China Gate, and Censor but quit Bollywood by 2003. She later chose a spiritual path and now lives as a monk.
