31 Naxalites killed in encounter in Bijapur’s national park area:2 soldiers laid down, 2 critical; 12 bodies recovered, search operation underway

Security forces claimed to have killed 31 Naxalites in an encounter near the Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra border. Two soldiers were laid down, and two others were injured. The bodies of 12 uniformed Naxalites have been recovered, and their identities are being verified. Search operations are ongoing in the Bijapur National Park area.

Police have seized a large number of weapons and explosives. The injured soldiers are out of danger and will be shifted to a higher medical facility for better treatment. Additional forces have been sent to the location as backup.

Bastar IG Sundarraj P stated that intelligence reports confirmed Naxalite presence, prompting the deployment of forces. Jawans from Bijapur DRG, STF, and Bastar Fighters surrounded the Naxalites, leading to the encounter.

DIG Kamlochan Kashyap mentioned that communication with the soldiers is currently unavailable. He called it a major operation, saying that while exact numbers are unclear, the Naxalites have suffered heavy losses, and the death toll could rise.
