US-EDUCATED HYDERABAD MAN STABS GRANDFATHER 73 TIMES OVER PROPERTY DISPUTE, ATTACKS MOTHER

Hyderabad police arrested a 29-year-old man, Kilaru Keerthi Teja, for brutally stabbing his 86-year-old grandfather, industrialist Velamati Chandrasekhara Janardhana Rao, to death over a heated property dispute. The crime took place on Thursday night, where Teja stabbed his grandfather a shocking 73 times before fleeing the scene.

Property Dispute Turns Deadly

Keerthi Teja, who had recently returned from the United States after completing his master’s degree, was enraged after Rao appointed his elder grandson, Srikrishna, as the group director of his business empire, Veljan Group. Although Teja had been given ₹4 crore in company shares, he felt the distribution was unfair.

On the night of the incident, an argument escalated into a brutal attack, with Teja grabbing a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbing Rao.

Hearing the commotion, Teja’s mother, Sarojini Devi, rushed in to intervene but was also viciously attacked. She suffered four stab wounds before Teja fled. She was later taken to a private hospital for treatment.

Police Track Down and Arrest Teja

After a two-day manhunt, police tracked and arrested Teja on Saturday.

Veljan Group, founded in 1965, is a leading manufacturer of pneumatic and hydraulic components with multiple plants in Hyderabad. The shocking crime has left the business community and the family reeling in disbelief.
