The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has called for an immediate ban on India’s Got Latent following massive backlash against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and host Samay Raina over their controversial content.
AICWA’s Official Statement
In a statement released on their official X account, AICWA condemned the remarks made in the recent episode of India’s Got Latent, calling them abhorrent and a threat to societal values.
“Such disgraceful content is utterly unacceptable and poses a significant threat to the moral fabric of our society,” the statement read.
AICWA also announced an official boycott of the show, urging actors, filmmakers, and technicians to cut ties with Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia, stating they will receive no support from the Indian film industry.
AICWA’s Demands
- Immediate Ban – The show must be shut down to prevent further damage.
- Legal Action – Strict action against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia for their involvement.
- Filing of FIRs – Urging Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis to initiate legal proceedings.
- Regulations on Digital Content – Stricter guidelines to prevent such content in the future.
What Sparked the Controversy?
During a members-only episode, Ranveer asked a contestant:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
This comment triggered massive backlash on social media, leading to Ranveer issuing a public apology:
“I shouldn’t have said what I did. I’m sorry. My comment was not just inappropriate—it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m here to apologise.”
Despite his apology, AICWA has made it clear that it will not tolerate content that degrades the nation’s culture and traditions. The controversy has reignited debates on content regulation in India’s digital space.
