In a significant appointment, former U.S. President Donald Trump has named radio talk show host Dan Bongino as the new deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Trump announced the decision on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “This is fantastic news for law enforcement and American justice! Dan Bongino, a true patriot with deep love for our country, has been selected as the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI. He will serve under Kash Patel, who will be the finest FBI Director ever.”
Bongino’s Background
Highlighting Bongino’s credentials, Trump noted that he holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from C.U.N.Y. and an MBA from Penn State. Bongino has previously served as:
- A New York Police Department (NYPD) officer
- A Special Agent with the United States Secret Service
- A highly successful podcaster
Trump emphasized that Bongino is willing to step away from his successful podcasting career to serve in his new role. Working alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, Trump expressed confidence that justice, fairness, law, and order would be restored swiftly in the United States.
Following the announcement, Bongino expressed his gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Thank you, Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel.”
Bongino to Work Under Kash Patel
Dan Bongino will be the deputy to FBI Director Kash Patel, who officially assumed office on February 22.
His swearing-in ceremony took place in the Indian Treaty Room at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB) within the White House complex. The oath was administered by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who asked Patel to place his hand on the Gita while taking his oath of office.
Expressing his pride, Patel remarked, “I am living the American dream. If anyone thinks it’s dead, just look at my story. I’m a first-generation Indian-American, now leading the law enforcement community in the greatest nation on Earth. Nowhere else is this possible.”
Kash Patel’s Indian Roots
Born in New York, Patel traces his heritage to Gujarat, India. His parents, however, hail from East Africa—his mother from Tanzania and his father from Uganda. The family immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1970.
With this high-profile leadership team now in place, the FBI is expected to undergo significant strategic shifts under the new administration.
