Police said that all three accused—the wife, her lover, and the contract killer—have been arrested.
A shocking case of murder has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya, where a 25-year-old man was allegedly killed by a contract killer hired by his wife and her lover just 15 days after their marriage, police said on Monday.
The victim, Dilip Yadav, was found injured in a field on March 19 after the police received information about his condition. He was rushed to a community health centre in Bidhuna, but due to his critical state, he was shifted to Saifai hospital, then to Gwalior and Agra for further treatment. However, as his condition continued to deteriorate, he was finally admitted to a hospital in Auraiya, where he succumbed to his injuries on the night of March 21.
The police investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Pragati Yadav (the victim’s wife), her lover Anurag alias Manoj, and the contract killer Ramji Chaudhary. The three accused were identified through CCTV footage and tracked down. According to Superintendent of Police Abhijith R Shankar, Pragati and Anurag hatched the murder plot and paid ₹2 lakh to Chaudhary to execute the crime.
This case has gained attention amid another disturbing murder case in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, where a woman, along with her lover, brutally killed her husband, chopped his body, and hid it in a cement-filled drum. The accused, Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, are currently lodged in prison and undergoing treatment for drug addiction.
Police officials have warned of rising instances of such crimes, where relationships take a violent turn, leading to pre-planned and gruesome murders. Authorities are now closely monitoring domestic crime cases to prevent such incidents in the future.
