The 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs, including for countries like India, eased fears of a global trade war. This led to a sharp rebound in markets. The possibility of relaxed duties on key sectors like automobiles encouraged investors to return to equities, boosting both Sensex and Nifty.

A small-time egg seller from Patharia town, Madhya Pradesh, was left in shock after receiving a notice from the Income Tax Department demanding details of financial transactions worth nearly ₹50 crore. The notice, sent on March 20, required him to provide records such as bills, vouchers, transportation details, and bank statements for the financial year 2022-2023.

An Unbelievable Shock

Prince Suman, who sells eggs from a handcart, was speechless when he learned that his name was linked to such a massive sum. His family was equally stunned, unable to comprehend how an ordinary street vendor could be caught in such a serious financial inquiry. Overwhelmed and confused, Prince had no idea how to respond.

In an attempt to clear his name, he approached local authorities, including the Superintendent of Police in Damoh district. However, what followed was even more shocking.

A Fraudulent Company Registered in His Name

Further investigation revealed that fraudsters had misused Prince’s personal details to register a fake company named “Prince Enterprise” in Delhi in December 2022. Using his identity, they obtained a GST number and carried out financial transactions worth crores before shutting the company down.

The company’s registered address was traced to Zone 3, Ward 33, Shop No. D 31, Flatted Factory Jhandewalan, Fitted Factory Complex, Delhi. The egg seller, who had never been to Delhi, found himself tangled in an elaborate fraud scheme.

A Growing Scam Targeting Innocent People

Similar cases of identity theft and financial fraud have been reported across Madhya Pradesh in recent years. Many victims, including young workers and students, have unknowingly become the face of fraudulent transactions they never authorized.

Authorities are now working to unravel the scam and track down the perpetrators. Meanwhile, victims like Prince are left struggling to prove their innocence and deal with the legal nightmare they never saw coming.

A devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, leaving more than 1,000 dead and over 2,000 injured. With rescue operations still ongoing, officials fear the death toll may rise. The disaster has overwhelmed hospitals, and the demand for blood is surging. Neighboring Thailand also witnessed structural collapses, further escalating the crisis.

Myanmar Seeks International Aid

Myanmar’s military junta leader, General Min Aung Hlaing, has urged international support, inviting “any country” to send assistance. While Myanmar has traditionally been hesitant to accept foreign aid, the scale of the disaster has prompted a change in stance. The UN has allocated $5 million for immediate relief efforts, and India has pledged to send over 15 tonnes of relief materials, including medical supplies, food, and shelter essentials.

Destruction and Humanitarian Crisis

Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city, has suffered extensive damage, with monks trapped under rubble at Phaya Taung Monastery. Hospitals in major cities, including Naypyidaw and Sagaing, are struggling to accommodate the influx of victims. In Thailand, a 33-story under-construction building collapsed in Bangkok, killing at least six people.

International Reactions and Support

  • United Nations – Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed that the UN is mobilizing in Southeast Asia for relief efforts.
  • United States – Former President Donald Trump stated that his administration would assist Myanmar in disaster recovery.
  • Pope Francis – The Vatican released a statement confirming the pope’s prayers for the victims in both Myanmar and Thailand.
  • India – The Indian Air Force is deploying aircraft loaded with aid supplies to assist Myanmar.

Ongoing Aftershocks and Risks

Aftershocks continue to rattle the region, with a 6.4-magnitude tremor following the main earthquake and another 4.2-magnitude shock occurring late Friday night. The US Geological Survey has warned that the final death toll could exceed initial estimates.

Global Concerns Amid Political Instability

The earthquake comes at a time of political turmoil in Myanmar, further complicating relief efforts. Amnesty International noted that the disaster has worsened conditions for displaced populations in the country. With resources already strained, humanitarian organizations are urging swift international action to prevent further loss of life.

The world watches as Myanmar struggles to recover from one of its deadliest earthquakes, with rescue teams racing against time to save those still trapped under the rubble.

The shocking murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut has stunned the nation with its gruesome details and chilling revelations. The autopsy report has confirmed that Saurabh was stabbed in the heart three times, leading to his death, and his body was later dismembered and stuffed inside a drum filled with cement. His wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla, have been arrested for orchestrating and executing the horrifying crime. According to reports, Sahil manipulated Muskaan into believing that they could only start a new life together if she personally killed Saurabh. When Muskaan hesitated, Sahil held her hand and guided the knife into Saurabh’s heart three times, ensuring he was dead before they proceeded to chop up his body. This planned and cold-blooded murder has raised disturbing questions about toxic relationships, psychological manipulation, and the extent of human cruelty.

Investigations have revealed that Saurabh was first drugged into unconsciousness, rendering him unable to defend himself. With no resistance, Sahil forced Muskaan to sit on Saurabh’s chest while he handed her a kitchen knife, demonstrating how to stab directly into the heart. Despite her initial reluctance, Sahil physically assisted her in committing the crime, ensuring that Saurabh suffered three fatal stab wounds. However, their brutality did not stop there. The autopsy report further revealed gruesome details—Saurabh’s neck was severed, his legs were amputated, and his torso was cut apart, making the crime scene even more disturbing. The intensity of the stab wounds was so severe that his heart was irreparably damaged, indicating the use of extreme force. The doctors who conducted the post-mortem stated that Saurabh’s body was left in such a horrifying state that it became difficult to identify due to rigor mortis and cement damage.

To cover up their heinous crime, Muskaan and Sahil hatched a sinister plan. They decided to stuff Saurabh’s body parts into a drum, fill it with cement, and seal it shut to prevent the discovery of the remains. Once their gruesome disposal was complete, the duo left for a vacation to Himachal Pradesh, pretending as though nothing had happened. During this time, they misled Saurabh’s family by sending text messages from his phone, making it seem like he was still alive. This deception lasted for two weeks, until March 18, when the police discovered the truth and arrested them.

Adding another layer of darkness to this already shocking case, Saurabh’s family has accused Muskaan and Sahil of being involved in occult practices. His mother, Renu Devi, claimed that the murder was not just a result of an illicit affair but also driven by supernatural beliefs and rituals. She alleged, “Both Muskaan and Sahil were into occult practices. They killed my son by performing tantric rituals.” Muskaan’s parents also claimed that Sahil brainwashed their daughter, keeping her under his control and isolating her from her six-year-old child. They alleged that Sahil used tantric rituals to manipulate Muskaan, making her believe she had no option but to kill her husband. While police have not confirmed these allegations, authorities are exploring every angle, including possible links to occultism and psychological coercion.

The brutality of the crime, the detailed planning, and the shocking involvement of occult beliefs have made this case one of the most disturbing murder investigations in recent times. With the autopsy report now in police custody, further investigations are focusing on proving premeditation and psychological manipulation. Muskaan and Sahil remain in police custody, and they will soon face legal proceedings for the murder, conspiracy, and destruction of evidence. This case has not only exposed the horrors of toxic relationships and blind faith in superstitions but also serves as a stark reminder of the extreme lengths to which some individuals can go for personal desires.

As the investigation continues, the nation watches closely, awaiting justice for Saurabh Rajput. His brutal murder has raised questions about the influence of manipulative partners, the role of superstition in criminal behavior, and the need for vigilance in personal relationships. With more details likely to emerge, this case serves as a grim warning about the dangers of unchecked psychological influence, emotional dependence, and blind trust in toxic relationships.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams safely returned to Earth after spending nine months aboard the International Space Station (ISS), a significant extension from their originally planned one-week mission. Their prolonged stay resulted from technical issues with Boeing’s Starliner craft, delaying their return. The ISS, located 254 miles (409 km) above Earth, has been a hub for international space research for nearly 25 years, jointly managed by the US and Russia. Both astronauts, experienced Navy test pilots turned NASA crew members, had to adapt to the unique challenges of prolonged spaceflight.

Living in microgravity for months affects the human body in several ways, including muscle and bone loss, fluid shifts leading to kidney stones, vision impairments, and balance issues upon returning to gravity. Despite these challenges, the astronauts continued their duties effectively. Williams even took on the role of ISS commander three months into their mission, leading station operations until earlier this month. They maintained their fitness through rigorous daily exercises, using resistance bands, a treadmill, and a stationary bicycle to mitigate the effects of weightlessness.

Their diet was another crucial aspect of their survival. Initially, they had access to fresh fruits and vegetables, but these were depleted within three months. Thereafter, they relied on NASA’s stockpile of packaged and rehydrated food, which included breakfast cereal with powdered milk, pizza, roast chicken, shrimp cocktails, and tuna. All meat and eggs were pre-cooked on Earth and only required reheating. Dehydrated foods like soups, stews, and casseroles were prepared using water from the ISS’s 530-gallon fresh water tank. The ISS also features an advanced filtration system that recycles astronauts’ urine and sweat into drinkable water, ensuring a continuous supply of hydration. NASA medics closely monitored their calorie intake, and the station had enough food stocked—approximately 3.8 pounds per astronaut per day—to sustain them, even in the event of unexpected mission extensions.

Despite their extended stay, NASA assured that any weight loss observed in the astronauts was not due to food shortages but rather the natural effects of long-duration space travel. The astronauts remained in contact with their families via internet calls and engaged in scientific experiments and station maintenance throughout their mission. After nearly nine months, they finally departed the ISS in a SpaceX capsule, successfully splashing down off the Florida coast. They are now undergoing extensive medical evaluations and rehabilitation to help their bodies readjust to Earth’s gravity.

Three days after a devastating car accident in Vadodara claimed the life of a woman and left four others severely injured, newly surfaced CCTV footage has provided crucial insights into the moments leading up to the tragedy. The accused, 20-year-old law student Rakshit Chaurasia, was caught on camera at the residence of a friend, along with his companion Pranshu, shortly before the crash.

The footage shows Rakshit and Pranshu arriving on a scooter, engaging in a conversation before entering the building. Notably, Rakshit is seen drinking from a bottle, though the contents remain unclear. Another segment of the footage captures the black sedan—later involved in the accident—parked near the house as Pranshu enters. Reports suggest the duo spent approximately 45 minutes at the location before departing, with Rakshit taking over the driver’s seat while Pranshu occupied the passenger side.

The Fatal Crash

On Friday, Rakshit Chaurasia, driving a speeding sedan, lost control and rammed into multiple two-wheelers in Vadodara. The impact was fatal for one woman, who died on the spot, while four others sustained serious injuries.

A shocking video from the accident scene shows a seemingly intoxicated Rakshit stepping out of the vehicle and shouting, “Another round, another round!” before being restrained by locals. Bystanders immediately captured both Rakshit and Pranshu and handed them over to the police. Authorities arrested the duo, and further investigations are ongoing.

Rakshit’s Defense: Denial of Alcohol Consumption

Despite strong suspicions and visual evidence, Rakshit has denied being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He claims that a pothole caused the accident, leading to an airbag deployment that obstructed his vision and resulted in the vehicle losing control.

“We were ahead of the scooty, turning right, and there was a pothole. The car slightly touched the two-wheeler, and the airbag opened suddenly, blocking my vision. The car then went out of control,” Rakshit told ANI.

He also insisted that he was driving at only 50 kmph and had not consumed alcohol, asserting that he had attended a Holika Dahan celebration before the incident. Expressing remorse, he admitted his fault but maintained his innocence regarding drunk driving. “I did not do any party, I was not drunk. Today, I learned that a woman has died, and others are injured. I want to meet their families. It is my fault, and I will accept whatever decision is made,” he said.

Ongoing Investigation

Police officials are currently conducting further inquiries, including medical tests to determine if Rakshit was intoxicated at the time of the accident. The case has sparked public outrage, with many demanding strict action against reckless driving incidents.

The investigation continues, as authorities seek justice for the victims and ensure accountability for the tragic accident.

NASA said in a statement on Sunday evening that the astronauts’ anticipated ocean splashdown will take place off the Florida coast on March 18 (GMT). Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams are to be transported home with another American astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon craft, which arrived at the ISS early Sunday.

Sunita Williams Return Date | Splashdown Time

The duo has been on the ISS since June last year after the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they were testing on its maiden crewed journey was hit by propulsion issues and was deemed unfit to fly them back to Earth.

NASA said in a statement on Sunday evening that it had moved forward the astronauts’ anticipated ocean splashdown off the Florida coast to approximately 5:57 PM Tuesday, Florida time (3:27 AM IST, March 19). It was initially slated for no sooner than Wednesday.

“The updated return target continues to allow the space station crew members time to complete handover duties while providing operational flexibility ahead of less favorable weather conditions expected for later in the week,” the space agency said.

NASA to Show Live Coverage

NASA said in a statement that it will provide live coverage of the agency’s SpaceX Crew-9 return to Earth from the ISS, beginning with Dragon spacecraft hatch closure preparations at 10:45 PM EDT Monday, March 17 (around 8:30 AM on March 18 in India).

NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will also return on the Dragon capsule. The slated journey will mark the end of an ordeal for Wilmore and Williams that has seen them stuck for nine months after what was meant to have been a days-long roundtrip.

While the extended stay of Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams aboard the ISS was much longer than the typical six-month rotation for astronauts, it falls short of the US space record of 371 days set by NASA astronaut Frank Rubio in 2023, or the world record of 437 days held by Russian cosmonaut Valeri Polyakov aboard the Mir space station.

The unexpected length of their time away from their families had drawn massive attention, speculation, and concerns. Due to the unforeseen extension, both astronauts had to receive extra clothing and personal care supplies, as they hadn’t packed enough for such an extended mission.

In a major rescue operation, India has successfully brought back 549 of its citizens who were trapped in cyber crime centres along the Myanmar-Thailand border. These individuals, hailing from states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, were lured with fake IT job offers and later forced into online fraud activities.

How It All Began: The Job Scam That Led to Trafficking

Criminal syndicates, mostly operated by Chinese gangs, have been targeting unsuspecting job seekers with lucrative job offers in Southeast Asia. Many Indians, desperate for better opportunities, were duped into traveling to Thailand or Myanmar, only to find themselves trapped in cyber scam centres in lawless regions of Myanmar. These areas, beyond the control of the military junta, have become hotbeds for illegal online fraud operations.

Once inside these centres, victims were forced to commit cybercrimes, scamming people worldwide through fraudulent schemes. Attempts to leave were met with severe threats and violence.

The Rescue Mission: Coordinated Efforts by India, Myanmar & Thailand

A recent crackdown along the Myanmar-Thailand border led to the release of hundreds of such victims, including citizens from several South and Southeast Asian countries. The Indian government, in collaboration with authorities in Myanmar and Thailand, ensured the safe repatriation of its citizens.

The rescued individuals were moved from Myanmar’s Myawaddy region to Thailand’s Mae Sot and temporarily housed in detention centres. They were then flown back to India on two Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 heavy-lift aircraft on Monday and Tuesday.

Government’s Warning: A Pattern of Cyber Crime Recruitment

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been issuing repeated warnings about such fraudulent job offers in Southeast Asia. The government has urged Indian job seekers to verify foreign employers through official Indian missions and thoroughly check the background of recruiting agencies before accepting overseas job offers.

The Indian embassy in Laos had earlier rescued 67 Indian men in January from a similar cyber scam operation, bringing the total number of Indians rescued from such scams in Southeast Asia to 924 in recent years.

The Growing Cyber Scam Industry & The “Pig Butchering” Fraud

These scams, known as the “Pig Butchering” scam, involve fraudsters convincing victims to invest money in fake online platforms, only to steal their funds. The term comes from the practice of fattening up a pig before slaughtering it. Criminal networks operating in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand have been using trafficked individuals to carry out these scams on a global scale.

What’s Next? A Call for Awareness & Caution

While the Indian government has successfully rescued hundreds, the rising cases of cyber crime-related trafficking highlight the urgent need for stricter regulations and awareness campaigns. Job seekers must exercise caution and verify employment opportunities before making decisions that could lead to such dangerous traps.
