Today marks the 20th day of the ongoing Mahakumbh, which began on January 13. Since then, over 30 crore people have taken a dip in the holy Sangam. Today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar visit the Mahakumbh.
CM Yogi welcomes the Vice President, and together they participate in programs related to the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025.
In related developments, a judicial commission team arrived yesterday, Friday, to investigate the recent stampede at the Mahakumbh. The team held a meeting at the Circuit House, attended by Commissioner of Prayagraj Zone Vijay Vishwas Pant, Fair Officer Vijay Kiran Anand, ADG Prayagraj Zone Bhanu Bhaskar, DIG Vaibhav Krishna, and other police officials.
The commission posed these 4 questions
1- When you knew that such a large crowd was going to come, what security arrangements were made?
2- Where else did this incident occur apart from the Sangam area?
3- What is the reality of the videos going viral in the media? Did any incident happen in Jhunsi as well?
4- Show the CCTV footage of all incidents. Provide details of the planning made for crowd control.
Sources said that the officials related to the fair could not even answer the commission’s questions properly. All the officials were busy praising their own work. To this, the commission said that if everything was fine, then how did the stampede happen?
CM Yogi come to Prayagraj
On the third day after the stampede that occurred before the Mauni Amavasya at the Maha Kumbh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Prayagraj. He visited the site of the stampede at the Sangam bank with officials.
Yogi took full details of the stampede from Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand. The Mela Officer provided a detailed account of the incident at the main spot of the stampede.
Yogi inquired about the direction from which the crowd had arrived and how the stampede had occurred. Following this, he was briefed on when and how the rescue operation had begun.
Yogi stopped for 10 minutes and inquired about the cause of the incident from the officials.
