The Supreme Court heard a plea by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia to club multiple FIRs filed across various states, including Maharashtra and Assam, over his controversial remark on parents intimacy made on comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’.
SC grants interim protection to Ranveer from arrest
Supreme Court expressed displeasure on the remarks of Ranveer Allahabadia during his guest appearance on a show India’s Got Latent. Supreme Court asks the lawyer representing Allahabadia what are the parameters of obscenity and vulgarity. But the court has granted interim protection to Ranveer from arrest, subject to his full cooperation with the probe.
Top Court’s conditions for relief from arrest-
- If Ranveer participates in the investigation and cooperates, he should not be arrested.
- If he is receiving any kind of threats, he can request police protection.
- This relief will remain only until Ranveer does not air any shows while staying abroad.
- Ranveer will have to submit his passport to the police.
